NEWPORT-A runaway 17-year-old female that escaped from
custody of the Department of Children's Services last week was apprehended
later that same day, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.
The teenager, who had active charges for being a runaway
and violating probation, ran out of the DCS office and jumped into a truck with
her 19-year-old boyfriend, according to a report by K9 Deputy Sheriff Chris
Gregg stated that he went to the area where the
teenager's boyfriend lives and saw him leaving the resident in the passenger's
seat of the vehicle.
Gregg allegedly stopped the vehicle and asked the
boyfriend where his missing girlfriend was. The boyfriend allegedly agreed to
show law enforcement where she was, according to Gregg's report.
