PARROTTSVILLE-Parrottsville Mayor Mary Keller hinted at
the town's monthly meeting held Thursday, June 6, that she may seek
"outside" legal counsel not in the county to file an action against
the Cocke County government to pressure or force them to relocate
Parrottsville's convenience center.
"We can seek outside legal representation, and that
is an option," the mayor said, without providing details.
The convenience center is located in downtown
Parrottsville, adjacent to a new baseball field going up, and new tennis and
basketball courts, which are all part of a sports complex projected to attract
tournaments and outsiders to the area, and therefore the spending of their
dollars in the town.
Mayor Keller said she decided to not ask the Town of
Parrottsville Attorney Jeff Greene to come up with any such new legal action on
the town's behalf because of his potential conflict of interest as Cocke
County's delinquent tax attorney.
