NEWPORT-Cocke County High School's Future Farmers of America chapter is $1,000 richer after club members placed second in Tennessee in a Chapter Challenge sponsored by Monsanto.

The contest included chapters in 16 states and promoted the awareness of the importance of agriculture within a community. To participate in the challenge, members are required to reach out to local agriculturalists and interview them.

Chapter members quiz their subjects about their history in the field of agriculture and determine why they have chosen this occupation.

Presenting the importance of agriculture to the community is a major goal the CCHS FFA chapter adopts on a yearly basis.
