Rafting Kick-Off


The 2013 white water rafting season kicked off with a luncheon and tour
of Walters Hydroelectric Plant and Dam on Wednesday. Members of Duke
Energy and the Pigeon River Rafting Association welcomed the upcoming
season while enjoying warm weather and a BBQ lunch provided by Max
Gardner of Duke Energy. Pictured from left are Cocke County Tourism

Felderman of Big Creek Expeditions; Wayne Duerer of USA Raft; Dean
Shults of Duke Energy; Steve Johnson of Duke Energy; Chris Summerville

County Clerk Janice Butler; Scott Jolley of Duke Energy; Claudette Geoffrion

in the Smokies. Despite bad weather early in the spring, the rafting community
believes this season will be the best yet.
