NEWPORT—One of the more unheralded players in District 2-AAA girls basketball this past season has made a decision to play basketball at the collegiate level.

Cocke County High School senior Jordan Ray, who was a member of the All-District 2-AAA Tournament team this past season, recently signed scholarship papers to continue her basketball and education at Virginia Intermont College.

Ray, who played the last two years in a Lady Red uniform and was instrumental in taking the Lady Red to its first District 2-AAA regular season and tournament championships in over 20 years this past season, said that picking Virginia Intermont seemed like a good fit for her.

"When I went up there and watched them play - I liked the way they do things up there," Ray said. "I like the way they play.

"It just seems like a good fit and I feel like I should go up there," Ray said.
