COSBY-Robert Louis Cody, 73, 322 Greasy Cove Road, Cosby, thwarted the theft of items from his property on Thursday by blocking a truck in his driveway, then waiting for officers from the Cocke County Sheriff's Department to arrive.

According to Dep. Andy Tritt, when officers arrived they found Ashley Marcum, 23, 339 Leaf Way, Newport; Sheila Proffitt, 41, 354 Midway Road, Del Rio; and Crystal McGraw, 26, 246 Larmie Circle, Newport, with items they had loaded into a truck.

The items were a watering trough, an old empty fuel tank, and a truck toolbox. According to Tritt, the women told him "a male subject who lived at the end of the road" had given his permission for them to "pick the items up."
