ROGERSVILLE---It was a marathon on a full-moon night.

Cherokee and Cocke County played a 12-inning District 2-AAA game on Tuesday night. In the end, the Fighting Cocks plated two runs in the 12th frame for a 2-0 victory.

The two teams splitting the season series ties them for seventh place in the standings, leading up to next weekend’s District 2-AAA tournament. If neither team is unable to defeat Morristown East in rescheduled games over the final week of the regular season, a coin filp will determine the higher seed in the postseason tournament.

Pitching dominated the first 10 innings as Cocke County’s Dagan Peak struck out 20 Cherokee batters in 10 innings, allowing just two hits, while walking six. Peak threw 140 pitches while taking a no decision on the mound.
