NEWPORT-A 17-year-old Cocke County High School student found on campus on Thursday, March 21 with marijuana, two Xanax pills, and tobacco was charged, released to his parent, and 'zero-toleranced' out of school for one year, Sgt. Randy Cutshaw of the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.

Sgt. Cutshaw, the school resource officer, said he got a tip that the student had drugs in his possession while at CCHS, the report stated.

Jody Williamson, the dean of students, and Sgt. Cutshaw allegedly took the suspect to an office and searched him.
