Basketball tourney benefits Relay for Life

NEWPORT—Cocke County's basketball players, students, parents, and fans didn't forget another important cause during the recent elementary school basketball tournament.

In addition to playing their hearts out for their respective teams as players and cheering on their favorite teams as fans, students and adults raised $1200 for Cocke County Relay for Life 2013's campaign.

Schools participating in the "tournament within the tournament" purchased basketballs for $1 each. The school purchasing the most basketballs took home a trophy and bragging rights for the coming year.
