NEWPORT-An early morning blaze
completely destroyed a frame home on Thinwood Drive early Thursday. Cocke County firefighters were notified of the blaze at 7:30 a.m. by Central
Dispatch and arrived on the nearby scene within five minutes to find the home fully engulfed in
flames. Three fire engines and six personnel, Capt. Skip Ellison and
Firefighters Rick Gregg, Jordy Self, Jacob Wines, Coby McGaha, and Justin Shelton, remained on the
scene until about 9:30 a.m. The dwelling, which belonged to Duay and
Kay O'Neil, was over 100 years old and for many years was the residence of Lucy Hall and her
husband, the late Edgar Hall. For more
