NEWPORT-An early morning blaze completely destroyed a frame home on Thinwood Drive early Thursday.

Cocke County firefighters were notified of the blaze at 7:30 a.m. by Central Dispatch and arrived on the nearby scene within five minutes to find the home fully engulfed in flames.

Three fire engines and six personnel, Capt. Skip Ellison and Firefighters Rick Gregg, Jordy Self, Jacob Wines, Coby McGaha, and Justin Shelton, remained on the scene until about 9:30 a.m.

The dwelling, which belonged to Duay and Kay O'Neil, was over 100 years old and for many years was the residence of Lucy Hall and her husband, the late Edgar Hall.
