NEWPORT-The Newport Planning Commission on Thursday, Feb.
28 approved the site plan for an expansion of the Food City East supermarket on
East Broadway.
The City of Newport Planning Commission on Dec. 27
approved a subdivision request needed for a large expansion of the Food City
East supermarket between East Main Street and East Broadway Street.
On Thursday, the planners discussed the subdivision
recombination of three properties that make up the development: Food City East,
part of the former Freeman's Furniture Store, and the Gas 'n' Go service
station. The subdivision recombination was approved by administrative review
and discussed at the meeting.
