NEWPORT-Lemmy Wilson, Cocke County livestock dealer whose
leadership in the livestock marketing industry stretched around the world, died
Sunday night in Knoxville's UT Hospital from injuries suffered in a recent
accident.
Wilson, 76, sustained critical injuries on Tuesday
afternoon, February 19, while checking his cattle herd with employee Bobby
Dalton.
Dalton, who was nearby, did not actually see the
accident, only hearing Wilson's yell.
Although there were no witnesses to the accident, Wilson
was apparently thrown from his horse striking his head on a rock, suffering a
fractured skull and other broken bones. He was flown from the nearby National
Guard Armory to the Knoxville facility shortly afterwards.
