NEWPORT-Seven people were arrested and $696 in cash
seized in a Johnson Street residence where drug activity had been taking place,
on Monday, March 4, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.
A 19-month-old infant girl was removed, which Cocke
County Sheriff Armando Fontes babysat until a Department of Children's Services
employee came to the sheriff's department and picked her up, according to the
sheriff.
"This bust was made possible by narcotics agents and
deputies with the Cocke County Sheriff's Department," wrote Sheriff Fontes
in a press release.
Narcotics officers went to 441 Johnson Street to do a
"knock and talk" over suspected drug activity at the residence.
Officers gained written consent to search from the homeowner, and verbal
agreement from other people in the residence, according to a report by Sgt.
Robert Thornton, and Deputy Sheriffs Heath Willis and K9 Officer Blaine Lewis.
The people arrested are: Jamie Marie Bryant, Vivian Gail
Bryant, Dennis O. Johnson, Nancy Ann Johnson, Warren Williams, Joshua A.
