MORRISTOWN—A High Wind Warning remains in effect for
Cocke County until 4 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service in
Morristown.
NWS officials say the area can expect sustained south to
southeast winds of 30 to 45 mph, with gusts in excess of 60 mph at times across
the mountains and adjacent foothills.
The strong winds may down trees and power lines and
driving may become difficult in cross winds, especially for those in high
profile vehicles. Localized power outages are also possible, according to the
NWS advisory.
Later this week, colder temperatures will move in into
the area and snow showers are expected to develop and continue into the
weekend.
