COSBY-For the second consecutive season, the Cosby Eagles
couldnt advance past the quarterfinal round of the Region 1-A tournament against the fourth seed
from District 1-A.
The Eagles fell in overtime at home to University High on Saturday
evening, 69-66. University High advances to Tuesday nights region semifinal against Cloudland at
7:45 p.m. at Chuckey-Doak Middle School.
University High began to take control of the game in
the final minute of overtime. The Buccaneers went on an 8-2 to run to finish off the Eagles as a
Luke Lemons three at the buzzer could only cut the lead back to one score.
Cosby (19-10)
led by as much as six early in the fourth quarter, but University High worked their way back, in
part because of foul trouble for Cosby.
Cory Valentine, Jordan Self and Timmy Smelcer each
fouled out in the final minutes of regulation and in overtime.
