NEWPORT-Members of the Class of 2013 will enjoy an
all-night celebration following a Mardi Gras theme.
Parents organizing this year's event adopted the theme
Monday evening during a planning session for Gradfest 2013 in the Cocke County
High School library.
For over a decade, CCHS and Cosby High School seniors
have been treated to the popular party at Newport/Cocke County Community
Center.
Begun by the Natural Bridge Ruritan Club, Gradfest is now
sponsored by Parrottsville Ruritan Club as a safe, fun, and alcohol/drug free
party for seniors to celebrate their accomplishments and graduation.
"We believe this event may save lives of teens who
would be tempted to engage in inappropriate behavior," said Gradfest 2013
chair Truitt Ottinger.
