NEWPORT—A Newport man is facing multiple charges in
connection with a November burlary in which the family’s pet was killed.
Newport Police Department Detective James Holt has filed
charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated animal cruelty and theft over $1,000
against Chris Haney age 22 of 356 White Oak Ave. Newport.
Haney is alleged to have burglarized an 8th Street
Newport Home on Nov. 28, 2012. During the burglary over $1,000 in property was
taken and the family dog “Simon” was killed. Several of the items that were
taken in the burglary have been recovered.
