NEWPORT—The possibility of moving the Forest Hill and Long Creek voting precincts prompted a lengthy discussion at Thursday’s meeting of the Cocke County Election Commission.
Cocke County Administrator of Elections Joyce Slagle advised she had received a letter stating the community center could no longer be used for elections.
“It’s nothing we did wrong,” she said. “There were no complaints.”
Slagle said one option is for the county to purchase the building currently owned by John Croft. She said she had mentioned the possibility to County Mayor Vaughn Moore.
