COSBY-As the 2012-13 season quickly rolls through the games, the Cosby Lady Eagles continue to display their clear refusal to lose.
While the second-ranked team in the state in Class A has played one of its toughest schedules in recent memory, the Lady Eagles continue to roll on their hunt for a second state tournament berth in three seasons. Cosby, which hasnít lost since November 24, took itís 15th consecutive victory on Tuesday night as they toppled highly touted Class AA foe Gatlinburg-Pittman for the second time this season.
The Lady Highlanders gave Cosby one of their toughest challenges of the season on Tuesday night, but as the Lady Eagles have demonstrated much of the season that they simply refuse to lose.
Itís an attitude that Lady Eagles coach Richard Coggins has compared to the 2005-06 Cosby High boysí basketball team he coached to the TSSAA Class A State Tournament. That team finished the season with a 32-2 record and won 25 straight games to arrive in Murfreesboro.
ďYouíd have to be around these girls every day to understand their will to win,Ē Coggins said following Tuesday nightís thrilling victory over Gatlinburg-Pittman. ďLosing, itís just not an option to them.
ď(Losing) happens sometimes, but itís something they donít believe in,Ē Coggins said.
