NEWPORT-The Cocke County Legislative Body approved a
longevity plan during Tuesday's meeting that will provide $2,500 for 11
employees with more than 25 years of service to the county.
County Finance Director Anne Bryant-Hurst pointed out the
creation of a longevity plan for employees from the Highway Department,
Landfill and General Fund is designed like the longevity plans already in place
for the Sheriff's Office and Cocke County Fire Department.
Bryant-Hurst, however, pointed out that employees who
have served more than 25 years would be left out; in some cases, there would
have been employees with less years making more money.
"They wouldn't get anything, now or in the
future," she said. "If you implement this, they will get
$2,500."
