NEWPORT-Police who happened to see a drug deal at a gas station take place ended up arresting a 19-year-old suspected drug dealer and seizing a shotgun, and $925 from him in what are considered proceeds from drug activity, on Friday, Jan. 18, the Newport Police Department reported.

William L. Wood, 19, of 435 Warford Road, in Newport, was arrested Jan. 18 and charged with possession of Schedule 2 for resale (Oxycodone), possession of a firearm with the intent to go armed, and driving on a suspended license, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Police answered a call at Stop 'n Go #2 store, and while there, noticed what appeared to be a drug deal at the gas pumps, the report stated.
