Fransico Ayala was transported to Newport Medical Center after he lost control
of his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Wednesday morning. The vehicle traveled
from the Southbound lane of Highway 73 at the intersection of the I-40
Westbound on and off ramps, crossed the off ramp, struck the culvert, and
traveled up the embankment toward the I-40 overpass. The vehicle struck
the overpass and came to rest Southbound in the culvert between the east
and west overpasses on the Northbound side of Highway 73.

NEWPORT-The driver of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado lost
control of his vehicle while traveling South on Highway 73 Wednesday morning.
According to Cocke County Sheriff's Department Deputy Tim
Snapp, the one vehicle accident occurred at 11:45 a.m. when Fransico Ayala, 33,
of Jess Wilson Road in Pigeon Forge, lost control of the vehicle at the
intersection of the Interstate 40 West on and off ramps then swerved back onto
the roadway. The vehicle crossed over Highway 73, running across the I-40
Westbound off ramp intersection and continuing into the grass section off the
Northbound side of Highway 73.
The vehicle struck the concrete culvert from I-40 West,
traveled up the embankment toward the I-40 West overpass. It then went
airborne, and the top of the vehicle collided with the bottom of the overpass.
