Commuters on Hwy. 25/70 this morning found themselves driving through
pouring rain. Record rainfalls this week have resulted in the issuance of a
flood watch for Cocke County and surrounding areas. A flood warning has
also been issued along the Pigeon River.

MORRISTOWN- The National Weather Service has issued a
Flood Warning for the Pigeon River today.
At 12 a.m. Tuesday, the stage was 9.4 feet and rising.
Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast. The river was expected to continue rising to nearly 10.5 feet by this
morning but is then expected to begin falling. The river will fall below flood
stage by late Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Flood
Watch for most of East Tennessee, including Cocke County, from noon through
Wednesday morning.
