COSBY-The Lady Eagles of Cosby High School improved their rankings in the Tennessee Girls Prep Basketball poll by the Associated Press.
Cosby, winners of two games last week, vaulted into the No. 2 ranking in this week's poll. Union City, last week's second rated team, took the top spot in the poll by 13 points over Cosby.
Union City garnered eight first place votes, to Cosby's four.
The Lady Eagles held a slim three-point margin over third ranked Clarkrange in this week's poll. Clarkrange moved up from sixth after toppling previously top-ranked Jackson County on January 11. Jackson County fell to fifth place after suffering their third loss of the season.
Summertown, at fourth place, rounded out the top five.
A pair of Cosby's potential Region 1-A foes also made the Top 10 rankings again. Hampton moved up to sixth place in this week's poll, while North Greene fell to ninth place. Hampton defeated North Greene on Friday night.
North Greene is one of the two losses sustained by Cosby this year, the other coming to the state's top-ranked Class AA team, Grainger High School.
