NEWPORT-The Cocke County Legislative Body has delayed
filling the board's position left vacant by the death of Bill Williamson last
month.
In a called meeting Thursday, CLB members voted to have
anyone from the Fifth District interested in serving to send resumes to County
Mayor Vaughn Moore within the next two weeks. The CLB's General Committee will
then review the resumes at a meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 4, give each interested
person five to seven minutes to address the committee, and then make
recommendations to the full CLB for consideration.
Following a motion by CLB member Phil Killion and second
from Dan Metcalf, members unanimously approved the measure.
The full CLB will then vote on filling the vacancy at its
regular February meeting.

Newport Plain Talk.
CLB member Andrew Fowler said, "I would like to see
some qualification" in filling the position.
