NEWPORT-Law enforcement officials are still searching for
two unidentified robbers who held up Tennessee State Bank in Newport, on
Wednesday, Dec. 6, according to Newport Police Department Chief Maurice Shults.
"There's nothing new" to report about the
robbers, including one that brandished an assault rifle, Chief Shults said
Friday afternoon, Dec. 28.
After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the
tellers, the two men are believed to have fled in a silver SUV, headed east on
Interstate 40.
