NEWPORT-A state audit of Cocke County's government for
the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012, resulted in only eight minimal findings
by auditors.
The audit report states, "Our audit resulted in eight
findings and recommendations, which we have reviewed with Cocke County
management.
"I was very pleased with the audit," said Cocke County
Mayor Vaughn Moore. "Everything was accounted for."
The first finding listed by auditors was that some Park
and Recreation Department funds were not deposited within three days of
collection.
"They had taken in just a few dollars and hadn't turned
them in on time," said Moore. "Even if you only take in a nickel, it should be
turned in within three days. We have addressed that."
