NEWPORT-High winds gusting to 45 miles per hour disrupted power service to more than 2,600 Newport Utilities customers on Thursday.

According to NU Electrical Manager Jimmy Robertson, all available NU crews worked to restore power in areas across Cocke County.

As of midday Thursday, power had been restored to customers in the following areas: Caney Creek, Trail Hollow, Hartford, Grassy Fork, Reece Hollow, Ridge Hollow, and South Highway 32.
