NEWPORT-Newport Utilities Finance Director Sherry Frisbee was named Interim General Manager during Tuesday's board meeting after board member Bill Costner made the motion.

Frisbee has been with NU since 1985 and has served as the finance director for the last five years. She will step in as general manager after Jeff Dykes, the current general manager, leaves Dec. 28.

Dykes will fill the position of President and CEO of the Johnson City Power Board.

"I am comfortable filling in for up to three months," said Frisbee. "I am doing this to help the utility for a short time."

Newport Utilities is in the process of hiring a new general manager.
