NEWPORT-A man who said a dog may have been rabid was arrested after he shot the beagle-mix dog "approximately" six times, killing it, on Dec. 17, the Newport Police Department reported. William ("Logan") Wood, 19, of 435 Warford
Road, in Newport, was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals, possession
of a handgun while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance,
and possession of drug paraphernalia, Patrolman Joshua Veridal reported.
Officers responded to the area of 438 Warford Road on a
report that a neighbor was shooting a dog multiple times in the front yard,
Veridal reported.
Officers found on the premises Wood, Nena Allison, Mickie
Allison, Evan Sanders, and John Lovell.
