NEWPORT-Over 150 Newport children will have a toy-filled Christmas this year thanks to members of the Newport Fire Department. On Saturday, for the 55th year, the firemen, assisted by
numerous volunteers, distributed new bicycles, dolls, all sorts of other toys,
and treat bags to local children who, otherwise, might not have a joyful
holiday.
Known formerly as Toys for Tots, the program is now
called Toys for Kids.
Local coordinator this year was Toran Hedgepath, who
quickly called attention to the many organizations and individuals whose
contributions of money, toys, and time made the day a success.
