NEWPORT-Local families remembered their loved ones on Thursday afternoon during a special memorial ceremony in the chapel of First United Methodist Church.

Newport Medical Center Chaplain Linda Mulford welcomed the families and other guests with the words, "Because we cared for you and your loved ones this year, we are gathered here."

"We are here to celebrate the impact your loved ones had on your lives," she continued. "They are still a part of us and especially a part of their families. We will continue to carry our loved ones in our hearts."
