NEWPORT-The Newport Police Department
"separated" itself from Patrol Sergeant Donna Harrison effective
Friday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m., Police Chief Maurice Shults announced.
The chief of police said an internal police department
investigation revealed that Sgt. Harrison participated in "both over and
covert" deliveries of contraband to at least two inmates on work detail,
when she was on both on, and off, duty.
Those administrative contraband items included smoking
tobacco, chewing tobacco, drinks, food items, and cash, the chief stated.
