Sunset Gap Community Center thanked the many people who made donations through the Newport Plain Talk subscription drive this year after a fire destroyed the dormitory.

"Thank you so much for your donation of $1,515. Your continued support will help us continue the programs that make a difference in the life of those in our community," said Sunset Gap Executive Director Kenny Morgan.

The money was generated by people who subscribed to the Plain Talk, and the newspaper in turn made a donation on behalf of every subscriber who responded after the fire.

The center staff has begun cleanup from the April fire and created a road to the hill top.
