NEWPORT-Newport Utilities board of directors looked ahead to the extension of services to Del Rio citizens on Tuesday when they unanimously approved a recommendation by Topper Allen, NU Water Department Manager, to extend their current project an additional 500 feet.

"In doing so, we'll picked up four more customers," said Allen, "but more importantly, we'll then be at the junction of Midway Road and Blue Mill Road. This will allow for the better possibility of extension of services up both roads at a future date."

The board also approved the purchased of four vehicles and a supply of underground primary cable.
