NEWPORT-A trusty picking up litter with other inmates on
a "can crew" took off running into some woods and escaped on Monday,
Nov. 26, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department has reported.
Michael Teal, 25, of 535 8th St., in Newport, was in jail
for a violation of probation related to forgery and theft of property, and is
not considered dangerous, Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said.
Before his run to freedom, Teal had also been charged
with the sale and delivery of drugs, and fraudulent use of a credit card,
according to a spokesman for the Cocke County Jail.
