DEL RIO-C. T. Hudson, who died Friday at Johnson City
Medical Center after a brief bout with cancer, will be remembered as a
dedicated member of the Newport Rescue Squad and numerous fraternal
organizations who had a special love for his fellow citizens, especially
children.
"He had been a very active member of the Squad since
joining our organization on July 22, 1998," said Squad Captain Matthew
Woody on Monday afternoon. "He served as Sergeant and Warrant Officer and
oversaw our vehicles and building. He also chaired the Conduct Committee which
oversees applications for membership and the approval of new members."
To the public, Hudson's service in the Squad earned him
the title of "Rescue Squad Man" at local ballgames, races, fairs, and
other events.
