NEWPORT-A Kodak man was arrested Sunday, Nov. 25, and
charged in the theft of household items from a Newport couple who live on
Highway 25E, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.
Deputy Sheriff Zach Shelton said the suspect apparently
returned to the residence on Nov. 25 to steal more items when Shelton spotted
him turn around in the driveway and leave. A brief chase ensued before the
suspect was stopped.
Over $27,000 worth of items were stolen, sometime between
6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, and the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 25, the report
stated.
