NU Head Dykes resigning

NEWPORT-Jeff Dykes is apparently resigning as general manager of Newport Utilities.

Dykes reportedly submitted his letter of resignation, effective Dec. 28, to NU Board Chairman Dan Lindsey on Tuesday.

Dykes was hired as NU's general manager in March of 2011, replacing Ron Fugate. Recently, he had been elected chairman of the Cocke County Partnership.

Due to an early press time for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Plain Talk was unable to contact Dykes or NU board members for comments on the search for a new director.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
