NEWPORT-A 23-year-old resident who lives on Bluff Road,
in Newport, has been arrested and charged with six burglaries/thefts, including
four in one week in October, the Cocke County Sheriff's Department reported.
Joseph Dustin Lewis Jr., of 1344 Bluff Road, in Newport,
was charged Nov. 19 with the March 5 burglary of a garage owned by Arlene
Helton on Midnight Way, in Parrottsville. Items stolen are valued at $4,250,
Det. Bryan Murr reported.
Lewis Jr. was also charged in connection with the April
12 burglary of the Jonathan Thornton residence at 116 Willowbrook Way, in
Newport, and theft of items valued at $9,283, Det. Bryan Murr reported.
Lewis Jr. was also charged in connection with the Oct. 22
burglary of Sandra's Bar, located at 2130 Highway 160, in Bybee. Damage to
Sandra Crumbley's business was estimated at $5,000. Lewis Jr. was also charged
with stealing $400 in change from the bar.
