GREENEVILLE-US Forest Service officials at the Cherokee
National Forest recommend the use of high clearance vehicles to visit Rocky
Top.
Unaka District Ranger, Terry Bowerman said, "With the
work done on the southern portion of Forest Road 402 coming from Del Rio,
getting to Rocky Top is a little easier now. Even so, this is a typical high mountain road, and we
recommend using high clearance vehicles to make your way to Rocky Top Gap.
"The northern section of Forest Road 402 coming from
Bridgeport is very rough in spots and only high clearance four wheel drive
vehicles are recommended."
