COSBY-A fourth quarter collapse cost the Cosby Eagles a chance
at their first victory on Thursday.
Cosby was leading by eight points heading to the fourth
quarter, but Grace Christian went on a huge run to finish the game and came away with a 60-50
win.
The Eagles stopped going inside late in the game which is where they had their most
success throughout the night.
Tate Parton had a great game down low, finishing with 19 points
and 13 rebounds. But it was in the fourth quarter when the Eagles started gunning up unnecessary
threes and stopped going inside.
Head coach John Marsh feels that was probably what lost them the
game.
"Grace Christian's good and they made a couple of shots, but the biggest thing is we
took a couple of bad shots," Marsh said. "We took two threes quick, and we had had some success
going inside. I think those two threes changed the momentum of the game. Those guys are trying to
help the team, but it's not how we had been successful.
Lady Eagles
win after sluggish start
After a sluggish start, the Cosby Lady Eagles responded to win their
first game of the season against Grace Christian on Thursday, 57-44.
Cosby trailed by seven
at the end of the opening quarter but after grabbing the lead in the second , they cruised the rest
of the way.
"We told them in the locker room how hard (Grace) plays," Cosby head coach
Richard Coggins said, "We didn't match the intensity early, but we had them put away twice. We were
up 21 and we didn't finish them."
"We had them down and should've finished them. We got in
foul trouble. But still, a win's a win," Coggins said.
