Newport Plain Talk readers have spoken in their chance to voice their views on the University of Tennessee football coaching situation involving third-year coach Derek Dooley.
Thirty-six percent of poll respondents elected to allow Dooley to return for his fourh season in 2013 - but for Dooley to terminate the services of rookie defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri. Sunseri's defense has given up 35 points or more in the past five games and gave up a school record 721 yards in last Saturday's 55-48 win over Troy.
The other half of the majority of voters elected that they wish to see a change for the Vols for the 2013 season. Thirty-one percent voted for Dooley's fate to be sealed after the conclusion of the 2012 season.
Another 21% of voters said that they wished to see Dooley terminated immediately and not allowed to finish out the final three games of the 2012 season.
Finally, another 13% of voters elected that the Vols keep Dooley and the entire coaching staff intact for the 2013 campaign on Rocky Top.
