NEWPORT-Dwight Ollis Baird, 51, of East Highway 25/70, in Del Rio, was arrested Nov. 2, and charged with a sex offender registry violation, after he allegedly tried to turn himself in on a Cocke County Sessions Court failure to appear charge under the name of his brother.

Lt. Josh Hartsell said Baird had previously hidden his identity and been incarcerated in the Cocke County Jail Annex on a public intoxication charge under the name of David Baird, his brother.

Further investigation of Dwight Baird revealed his true identity, and that he was wanted out of Calhoun County, Ala. and Asheville, Ala., for sex offender registry violations.
