Dear Editor:
I read in the Newport Plain Talk of a proposed economic
summit to be hosted by the Cocke County Partnership.
There was a list of educational institutions as well as
TVA, and local utilities to be invited. I am interested in the goals of the
proposed summit and whether community and/or labor groups could be invited to
share their viewpoints on the local economic reality and citizens' hopes for
the future. Will the county's infrastructure, such as Internet access for
entrepreneurs, cottage industries, and small independent farmers or tax breaks
to corporations that relocate here, be discussed?
The jobs we create today will become our children's
community tomorrow. Let's be certain we give them options!
Thank you,
Deborah Bahr
