A tractor-trailer reportedly knocked a new concrete post over when the vehicle
made too sharp of a turn from North Street to East Broadway, on Wednesday,
Nov. 7, at about 1:10 p.m. No one was injured. The driver did not stop his
18-wheeler even when Maggie Mowery, owner of Kay's Bridal and Formalwear,
a shop on the corner, tried to flag the driver down, she said. On the right is
Newport Police Department patrolman Robby McMahan. Partially hidden is
Joshua Bolin, Mowery's son. Mowery and Bolin said they heard a loud boom
when the tractor-trailer clipped the four-foot tall post.
