DANDRIDGE-Sgt. Major David Hatfield will be guest speaker
at the 21st annual Veterans Day celebration Sunday, November 11, at Resthaven
Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. The event will be held in the Garden of Valor.
Participating groups will include the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, AMVets,
Marine Corps League, American Legion, Tennessee State Guard, CCHS NJROTC, and
Jefferson County High JROTC.
Hatfield served 30 years in the US Marine Corps,
including seventeen duty stations around the world. He served as a tank
mechanic during his combat tour of duty in Vietnam, as a Marine drill
instructor at Parris Island, South Carolina, and as Battalion Sergeant Major
with the 9th Communication Battalion in Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Desert
