NEWPORT-Incumbent Rep. Jeremy Faison will return to
Nashville to represent the 11th District following his political victory on
Tuesday.
Unofficial returns show Faison defeating his Democratic
challenger Marjorie Ramsey by a vote of 12,469 to 5,279.
Several GOP supporters gathered at the GOP Headquarters in
Newport Tuesday night in anticipation of the election results, as they cheered
on Jeremy Faison for his re-election as the State Representative of the 11th
District.
As the polls officially closed at 8 p.m. EST, Faison and
several supporters began calling the election commissions in Cocke, Jefferson,
and Greene Counties to gather numbers from the precincts. Within the hour,
Nashville declared Faison the winner.
"I want to thank everyone so much for intrusting me
with this awesome responsibility of representing you in Nashville," said
Faison. "I take very serious the job that I have been given, and I will do
all that I can to correctly represent your thoughts and values each time I vote
in Nashville." For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
