NEWPORT-A welfare check on a woman resulted in the
discovery by officers of 17 cats stuck in cages and living in their own feces
and urine, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported.
Emmons reported that on Tuesday, Oct. 30, he went to a
Point Pleasant community residence to do a welfare check on a woman for Adult
Protective Services, when he noticed the cats living in cages and in their
waste.
The woman was transferred to the emergency room at
Newport Medical Center.
Another adult signed over all of the animals to the
Newport Animal Shelter, Emmons reported. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
