NEWPORT-During its two day session this week, the grand
jury considered 165 criminal cases, returning 95 indictments, 44 sealed
presentments, 22 unsealed presentments, and four no true bills.
Grand jurors also returned four additional presentments
against a local woman on Tuesday, who was indicted on Monday for violation of
the state compulsory school attendance laws.
Miranda Marie Ellison Shropshire, 27, of Comanche Drive,
who is identified as "a parent, guardian, or [adult] who has control of the
child" is charged with two counts of violation of the state compulsory school
attendance law for two children, who are identified in the indictment only by
